On a cold rainy night it was heard on the 147.315 repeater talk about Bill Hembree, W4DBH and his legendary salmon stew. On Jan, 2000 Bill Hembree e-mailed the recipe to Ken Kirkley NO4D. Ken sent out an e-mail in 2010 with the recipe, here is his e-mail:
Hey Guys:
I recently ran across a recipe for Salmon Stew that Bill Hembree/W4DBH emailed me on Jan 19, 2000. I am going to share his recipe with you just as he sent it to me. Everytime I cook a pot I remember Bill. The wording of the recipe is vintage Bill!
5-big taters
2-big onion
boil all the water out
put in 2 can salom 1 cream korn 1 can gran korn
1-stick butter
salt & pepper texas peat to taste
milk make it as thick or thin as you like
bring it to boil eat all you can it is good with sweet pickels
The spelling and punctuation is identical to what his email was. I hope you will take time to make a pot of salmon stew in his memory. It is REALLY good! Of course, you may want to cut everything in half. This makes a pretty big pot. But, you can freeze the leftovers for later.
Enjoy!
Ken/NO4D
